Performative Archaeology

Hello Class :)

On my presentation, I want to talk you about performative archaeology.
Performative archaeology is a branchof the archaeology family. This archaeology approaches it's subject matter on a perceptive way. appealing to feelings and experiences, mainly visual and tactile to better understand the materiality.
This is a type of archaology that uses tools of art and social anthropology for a better understanding. It's like to ask oneself  What does this mean? And respond thinking for yourself What do I think when I see it? What do I feel when I touch it?
This discipline is classified as postmodern archaeology for most archaeologists.
I choose this topic because I discovered a short time ago there was this current within the various branches of archaeology.
I also chooe this topic because I study social anthropology, and performative archaeology is very close to my discipline. Both play with the archaeological material and try to give a new, creative and different approach to the archeological record.
To structure my presentation, I will first a general introduction to the subject as I previously put.
I will say that is performative archaeology, and what makes it.
Then, I go into detail about in the topic for explain how the discipline works and how to reach the material record, name the ways in which it has been studied, where, and who are the authors who have developed this current. For example Michael Shanks, who has studied from the meta-media lab.
Finally I will explain a little more as the performative archaeology becomes an interesting alternative to study and lear from the past.

I hope you like my proposed topic, and any suggestion are welcome :)

I hope you have a nice weekend ;)
